The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, has announced the domestic natural gas price for the period from January 1 to January 31, 2025. According to the notification issued by the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC), the price of domestic natural gas has been set at US$ 7.30 per MMBTU on a Gross Calorific Value (GCV) basis. This represents a 0.14% increase from November 2024, showcasing India’s proactive approach to managing market dynamics for stability and predictability in the domestic natural gas sector.
This price determination follows the guidelines outlined in the Ministry’s notification dated April 7, 2023. Additionally, for gas produced by ONGC and OIL from their nomination fields, the administered pricing mechanism (APM) imposes a ceiling price of US$ 6.50 per MMBTU on a GCV basis for the same period.
The notification ensures a balanced pricing structure while addressing domestic energy demands and supporting the operational sustainability of key public sector enterprises.
