Company-wise Urea Import in India from 2016-17 to 2020-21

The Government of India has not authorized any private entity to import urea fertilizer. Import of fertilizers (other than Urea) is free and on a private account under Open General Licence (OGL). Various companies import these fertilizers as per their commercial viability. The import on Government account is permitted through MMTC, STC, RCF and PSUs under the Foreign Trade Policy of the Government.

IFFCO ranked no. 1 in urea import in the country with 3.871 million tons, IPL ranked no. 2 with 2.626 million tons and NFL with 0.998 million secured 3rd rank, during FY” 2020-21.
