World as a whole, have surplus Nitrogen and Potassium but there is imbalance of these fertilisers in the continents and sub-continents across the global.
If we take nitrogen, many continents and sub continents have surplus nitrogen like East Europe (13.5 Mn t), Central Asia (0.8 Mn t), Europe (10.5 Mn t), East Asia (1.8 Mn t), West Asia (11.5 Mn t), Asia (5.9 Mn t) and Africa (3.9 Mn t), have surplus nitrogen which is used for both fertiliser and non-fertiliser use.
Total surplus nitrogen in these continents are around 47.9 million tons whereas shortfall is 28.2 million tons in America (7.7 Mn t), North America (3.6 Mn t), Latin America (4.2 Mn t), South Asia (7.4 Mn t), West Europe (3.8 Mn t) and Oceania (1.6 Mn t).
In case of phosphoric acid for fertiliser use, continents and sub continents like East Europe (3 Mn t), Europe (0.9 Mn t), East Asia (2.5 Mn t), West Asia (3.3 Mn t), North America (0.6 Mn t) and Africa (7.9 Mn t), have surplus phosphoric acid for fertiliser use.
Total surplus phosphoric acid for fertiliser use in these continents are around 18.1 million tons whereas shortfall is 23.9 million tons in America (5.4 Mn t), Latin America (6.0 Mn t), Asia (2.1 Mn t), South Asia (7.9 Mn t), Central Europe (0.5 Mn t), West Europe (1.5 Mn t) and Oceania (0.5 Mn t).
In case of potassium fertiliser, continents and sub continents like East Europe & Central Asia (17.1 Mn t), West Europe (0.5 Mn t), Europe (16.7 Mn t), West Asia (3.5 Mn t), North America (12.7 Mn t) and America (5.2 Mn t), have surplus potassium for fertiliser use.
Total surplus potassium for fertiliser use in these continents are around 55.6 million tons whereas shortfall is 38.8 million tons in Africa (1.2 Mn t), Latin America (7.5 Mn t), Asia (12.6 Mn t), South Asia (4.6 Mn t), East Asia (11.5 Mn t), Central Europe (0.9 Mn t) and Oceania (0.5 Mn t).
Considering long term goal and mutual benefits of both the countries, Countries having surplus nitrogen or shortage / gap in the fertilisers, may strategically plan to have tie up with each other either directly or thru JVs or private players under PPP, to make it balance across the world, to eradicate the hunger from the world and to ensure food security across the world for each and every human being.
