PAN India, main consumption of urea is in cereal crops (rice & wheat). Farmers’ urea purchase is 51% during kharif season and 49% during Rabi season. During kharif season, urea purchase starts from 15th June till August. Last FY’ 2020-21, farmers’ purchase in June, July & August was 10%, 14% and 11% respectively, of total annual urea sales of 35 million tons. During Rabi season, urea purchase starts from 15th November till 31st January. Last FY’ 2020-21, farmers’ purchase in November, December & January is 8%, 12% and 11% respectively, of total annual urea sales. However, fertiliser purchase depends upon agro climatic condition and may vary month to month and year to year.
