The Government of India has mandated the revival of the Talcher unit of Mls FCIL, situated in the Angul district of Odisha. In line with this mandate, a Joint Venture Company named Talcher Fertilizers Ltd. (TFL) has been established to construct a coal gasification-based Ammonia urea plant with a capacity of 12.7 LMTPA, marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in India. The foundation stone for the plant was laid by the Honorable Prime Minister on February 17, 2019.
TFL is a collaboration between various entities, with GAIL, RCF, and CIL holding an equity stake of 31.85% each and that of FCIL is 4.45% in the project. This partnership was further affirmed by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) during its meeting on February 21, 2024, approved additional equity infusion by RCF and CIL, highlighting the commitment of RCF and CIL to the success of the TFL project.
