India (-9%) has received normal rains. The live storage available in 130 reservoirs is 94.57% of the live storage of corresponding period of last year and 143.07% of storage of average of last ten years.  

Kharif crop sowing deficit by 80 lakhs ha as on 16th July in India.

Major deficit zones are east and west zone. East zone shortfall is 17% with 12.7 lakh ha and west zone is by 14% with 54.1 lakh ha. North and south zones are also deficit by 6% and 4% respectively. Major states in deficit of crop sowing are Rajasthan (24 lakh ha) and Maharashtra (12 lakh ha),

Major shortfall is in total coarse cereals by 21% (24 lakh ha), total oil seeds by 14% (20 lakh ha), cotton by 13% (15 lakh ha), total pulses by 12% (10 lakh ha), and rice by 7% (12 lakh ha).

NPK Production during 1st quarter (April-June) increased by 11.3%; however, Urea and DAP Production were reduced by 5% and 13.6% over last year corresponding Period (Apr-June).

Imports of Urea and MOP were decreased by 18% and 38% respectively over last year corresponding Period (Apr-June), however imports of DAP was increased by 6% and NPK was same as last year.

Sale of Urea, DAP and MOP decreased by 10%, 28.9% and 19.4% respectively, however sale of NPK Complex were increased by 2.6% over last year corresponding Period (Apr-June).
