Kharif crop sowing deficit by 80 lakh ha in India: Know State wise & Crop wise status

Kharif crop sowing deficit by 80 lakhs ha as of 16th July in India.

Major deficit zones are east and west zone. East zone shortfall is 17% with 12.7 lakh ha and west zone is by 14% with 54.1 lakh ha. North and south zones are also deficit by 6% and 4% respectively.

Major states in deficit of crop sowing are Rajasthan (24 lakh ha) and Maharashtra (12 lakh ha),

Major shortfall is in total coarse cereals by 21% (24 lakh ha), total oil seeds by 14% (20 lakh ha), cotton by 13% (15 lakh ha), total pulses by 12% (10 lakh ha), and rice by 7% (12 lakh ha).

In India East Zone, deficit states are Bihar by 27% (5.9 lakh ha), Odisha by 24% (4.6 lakh ha) and Jharkhand by 37% (3.04 lakh ha).

In India North Zone, deficit states are UP by 6% (4.4 lakh ha), Punjab by 6% (2.2 lakh ha) and Haryana by 14% (2.9 lakh ha).

In India South Zone, deficit states are Andhra Pradesh by 51% (6.3 lakh ha) and Telangana by 5% (1.5 lakh ha).

In India West Zone, deficit states are Rajasthan by 33% (23.9 lakh ha), Maharashtra by 9% (12.2 lakh ha), MP by 7% (6.8 lakh ha) and Chhattisgarh by 26% (7.96 lakh ha).
