India’s Fertilizer Report Card for Nov 2023: Record Production and Sales

India’s fertilizer and agriculture sectors are on fire, racking up some impressive achievements as of November 2023. There has been a substantial increase in the production and sales of key fertilizers such as Urea, DAP, and NPKs. To put it simply, Urea, DAP, and NPK production grew by 12%, 11%, and 4%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. The total fertilizer production reached an impressive 30.4 million tons by November 2023, with Urea leading the way at 20.9 million tons, followed by NPKs at 6.5 million tons, and DAP contributing 3.1 million tons to this remarkable accomplishment.

From April to November 2023, the sales of Urea, DAP, and NPKs in India showed impressive increases, with growth rates of 11%, 8%, and 19%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. However, MOP sales went almost same the current year until November compared to the previous year.

From April to November 2023, India saw a notable drop of 13% in the imports of DAP and 14% in NPKs imports compared to the same period last year. On the flip side, MOP experienced impressive growth rates of 60% and Urea just by 3%. The decline in DAP and NPKs aligns with the Indian government’s goal of reducing imports and promoting local alternatives like PROM and PDM under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.

India’s fertilizer scene is booming! More production, more sales—it’s like watching a success story unfold. This isn’t just about making fertilizers; it’s India saying, “We’re all in for better farms and meeting that growing demand.
